Payton's Room

Obviously not all finished yet, but my talented husband has finished the painting part (except for minor touch-ups) in Payton's room! It took a lot of time and several color changes, but I think the end result turned out really cute! Don't have the crib skirt yet for the crib (it is blue with the polka-dot trim like the quilt) and we are going to have the chair recovered by the same people who made it, but this at least gives you an idea!

25wk baby bump update

Here is a picture of me and Payton at 25wks! I got this shirt from my hospital's new baby boutique and just love what it says: Winter Blessing! So simply stated, yet says so well how we feel!

Trip to Indianapolis

After 3 1/2 years of living and breathing this project right along side Rory (yes he started this project right after Jakson was born), we were blessed enough for me to be able to take a long trip with Rory up to Indy and see all his hard work come to fulfillment! We went in August for the opening week of activities (the weather was beautiful!) and really just had a great time just the two of us!

The view from our hotel room (this is the hotel Rory stays at every time he goes, which has been weekly for months now). Rory made sure that we got one of the special end suite rooms so I could have this view that he often gets when he goes. It was awesome!

Rory was able to take me on a private tour of the stadium and we went wherever we wanted! This is the inside of the Colts owner's family suite and was just crazy with posh details!

The view from the outside seating area of the owner's family suite.

The view from the outside seating area of the quarterback suite. The stage they are setting up on the field was for the Grand Opening that we attended that night.

This is me inside the Colts locker room showers!!! :-) Notice how high the shower heads are placed!!

Rory in front of the Colts lockers in the locker room--they were made of some special wood that was flown in from overseas--$$$$

The welcome that was on the jumbotrons when we entered the stadium that night for the Grand Opening Gala ($250/ticket--luckily Rory and I were invited to come by his firm and they took care of the bill!)

Rory and I standing at the edge of the Lucas Oil plaza looking out over the field, all dressed up! Not bad for 21wks prego! :-)

I still think we've got that Ken and Barbie look that we used to be teased for...well, maybe plus a few pounds...oh well :-)

A view of just one of the food areas that were set up all around the main level concourse, each one had a different theme. It reminded us of "cruise food"!

Rory and I in our seats waiting for the show to start. The show had multiple musical performances (Steven Stills, John Cougar Mellencamp, Unity Youth Choir and Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra), a showcase of just a few of the groups that will be using the stadium, pyrotechnics, and a fireworks finale. It was great!

Rory's coworkers all dressed up and excited to be celebrating their great acheivement!

Joe Theisman, Courtney, and Rory!! He was the master of ceremonies for the show and we were lucky enough to catch him out on the field after the show for a pic and autograph!

Rory and I standing against the goalpost--it was pretty awesome to know that we got to be out on the field before even the players did--they did not return from training camp until two days later.

Rory in front of the Lucas Oil monster truck--we got this one for Jakson!

The view from our hotel room that night when we got back--pretty awesome with everything all lit up inside and out!

We also got to go out to Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the museum there. Rory got a real treat when we found out that they were having special tours that day of all the areas of the speedway, including a lap around the track!

Us in front of the main street entrance to the speedway.

Rory "kissing the bricks" which is a long-standing tradition for NASCAR drivers and their teams to do when they win a race at Indy.

Rory and I standing on the bricks (which serve as the start/finish line) looking down the front stretch of the racetrack. It is pretty cool--Jakson got to take laps around Texas Motor Speedway in utero during Laps for Charity and now our 2nd little man got to take a lap around Indianapolis Motor Speedway in utero! :-)

Rory and I in victory lane!!

Us in the actual museum which had a ton of racing history that even I was interested in! :-)

We felt so blessed to be able to take this trip so that Rory could show me where he has poured his blood, sweat, and tears for the past several years. Also, it was a nice little "babymoon" for us before baby #2 arrives! By the way, we decided on a name while we were on this trip--Payton James! James is after Rory's grandfather who he is really close to and Payton, we just liked! :-)

20wk sono--it's officially confirmed...

Well, we had our sonogram by the professionals and it is officially a boy!! These pics are better for sure...

The money shot...my midwife wanted the sono tech to tell me it was a girl, just to tease me since she can't believe that we are that good at looking for the sex ourselves, but it was way too obvious to play that game! :-)

Here is a shot of his sweet face! Almost looks like he is smiling at you!

Here is another money shot, except in this shot you can see that our little guy has his hand reaching down to, um, play with his "parts"--lovely. I am sure you moms of boys can appreciate this--I guess they truly are never too young to start exploring! Yikes! :-)

Team Texas Racing

If you remember from a previous blog, I got Rory a special 10 lap NASCAR race experience out at Texas Motor Speedway for his 30th birthday. They get to drive actual previously used cars driven by NASCAR drivers and then donated to TMS. My dad decided to do it with him and these are the pics from that day--Rory had the time of his life and was immediately ready for more!

Sitting in their training class learning not how to wreck each other...

Jakson riding around on his bike while the guys were getting trained.

Standing in line waiting to be assigned a race group..trying to look like they didn't know each other so that maybe they would be assigned to the same race group--didn't work by the way, but turned out better because they got to watch each other race.

Getting dressed and ready to go--just found out he will be racing a Tony Stewart car (his favorite NASCAR driver)!!! So excited and a complete stroke of luck since the cars are assigned based upon your height and weight, how the cars are set up, and the height/weight make-up of your group and how those people will best fit in the cars. He obviously wore all his Tony gear that day hoping it would help out even though he knew how it worked--God wanted to make this the ultimate experience for him!!

Rory driving his Tony car! He did great and was able to pass several people--his drive instructor said he would drive again with him any day!!! Way to go!

All smiles just after he got out of the car! The first thing he said? "When can I do that again?!?!"

My dad driving his car--he was assigned to Mark Martin's car, which if you don't know is one of the "older" drivers on the circuit, so we thought it so appropriate for dad to get his car!! Plus, he is a good guy and one of our favorite drivers, so God made his experience extra good too!!

The boys after all was done, hot and tired, but ready for more!!!

The Harley Family

Some of you may not know, but my dad got a Harley Davidson last year for his 59th birthday, and both my parents have really fallen in love with it! I am little concerned what he will get this year for his 60th!! :-o My mom recently encouraged my dad to put different exhaust pipes on it because it wasn't loud enough for her! They have a great group of friends, many from church, that they go on weekly rides with and have taken some longer trips with. I thought I would share some of the pics they sent us from this year.

My Harley parents! :-)

My dad's bike is the candy apple red one they are standing behind.

I wonder who took this picture--I hope a fellow passenger and not a driver! :-)

Is it just me, or does it look like my dad is giving this trooper a hard time (remember, he is a retired DPS officer)? My sister and brother-in-law were having some bike trouble on this trip.

My dad, my brother-in-law Lance, and my sister Keva (also fellow Harley riders).

Jakson's Summer Visit at Grammy & Poppy's

Jakson went for a visit to my parents over 4th of July and had a great time! He got to spend a lot of time with his cousins, who he just loves!

Haven't taken a picture of all my dad's grandkids since Jakson was 3 months old, so they took the opportunity when they were all in the same town again to get an updated one! We surprised my dad by having all the kids wear Harley shirts and take the pic on the little motorcycle that the picture place has...he was really surprised and I think it brought him to tears!

Here are Katie's kids: Alec 12, Bailey 19, Kayden 4

Here are Keva's kids: Jacob 8 and Rebekah 6

Here is Jakson 4th of July morning showing off the "red, white, and blue" breakfast that Grammy made for him.

Jakson in the neighborhood parade around my parent's neighborhood.

Look at the cookie I got!!! The kids got snacks after being a part of the parade.

Getting ready to go swimming with the cousins.

Having a blast in the pool! Alec just loves Jakson and is really good with him.

Fireworks!!!

Swimming playdate with my buddy Carter, his Grampy, and my Poppy. Carter and I are only 9 days apart in age (he is my childhood friend Jaymie's son).

Oh, the ultimate in spoiling!! :-) What else are grandparent's for?

Grammy and Poppy took me to a cool bounce house place in Hutto called Hoppin' Hippo that is for little kids only and I had a blast!

Havin' a great time!! I love seeing that smile! :-)

Posin' in front of one of the playhouses.

Had a great time and just love my time with Grammy and Poppy--don't know who enjoys it more him or my parents!
